Ministry of Finance of Schleswig-Holstein visits CAU

On 02 September 2026, associates of the Ministry of Finance of Schleswig-Holstein visited Kiel University (CAU) to learn more about current research projects and start-ups within the university’s network.

Together with three start-ups from Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Science (KiNSIS), IDIR presented its research activities. Researchers introduced their work on AI and Digital Twins in medicine and demonstrated their diverse applications using concrete examples.

In addition to simulations, the visitors were presented with 3D-printed models of intracranial aneurysms, new implant concepts and biodegradable magnesium screws. The visit provided an opportunity for an engaging exchange and numerous questions about the potential of AI and Digital Twins for the medicine of the future.
